I start each session with a general prompt to ground our conversation. We talk as a group, learning about one another and exploring topics such as relationships, anxiety and stress, masking, navigating work, etc.
In our conversations, we learn about each other—ways we are different and ways we are similar. We expand our awareness and acceptance of neurodivergent profiles. In so doing, we foster awareness and acceptance toward ourselves and each other.
These support groups are meant to leave you feeling validated, seen, and connected to other neurodivergent people. This community often feels alone and misunderstood, I have designed these groups as a way of combatting that. There is not only growth on an individual level, but on a community level.
About Me
My name is Ashra and I am the autisticthrifter.
I offer support groups for members of the autistic community.
I was diagnosed autistic at 24 years old, and realized soon after that there was no support designed specifically for autistic adults. I wanted to change that.
I was trained in group facilitation by my Harvard Professor, and I have run a plethora of process oriented groups, as well as DBT groups. I also earned my Masters in the Field of Psychology. All of this background has provided me the tools necessary to start my own process-oriented, neurodiversity affirming, specifically autistic designed, support groups.

"One of my biggest struggles as a self-diagnosed, late diagnosed, highly masking autistic person is a lifelong sense of isolation. Joining this group, meeting people like me, and making time to sit down with them on a weekly basis over the past 6 months has been a balm. The group has become a peaceful and comforting place for me. It has helped me gain perspective on this (often confusing) process of better understanding my neurotype. Ashra is so welcoming and approachable—she is open to requests about how to make the group more accessible for everyone and communicates clearly, making the space feel soothing and safe."
“I can’t even begin to describe how powerful Ashra’s support groups have been for me. Through her groups, she creates a truly comforting safe environment where fellow autistics are free to unmask and speak out about all the challenges that come with navigating a neurotypical society that doesn’t always treat us kindly. It has been so powerful to be able to have a space every week where I know I will feel seen and understood and at the same time provide validation and understanding of other autistic experiences as well. I truly look forward to every meeting and I really appreciate how everyone is always given an opportunity to speak (or write) but never pressured to do so. These groups are a truly warm, nurturing environment that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. We live in a world that cares more about creating spaces for parents of autistic people rather than autistics themselves, even in so called progressive cities. Ashra truly does an amazing job in filling this significant void that exists in our community.”
"Being relatively early in my Autism + ADHD journey, I am immensely grateful to have found a safe space to explore my evolving identity. I’ve done a lot of inner work over the years, with a focus on authenticity and building my sense of self-worth. Though I’d learned to productively manage my mental health and social struggles, I still had lingering questions, along with inherent traits that felt “wrong” or dysfunctional. In that regard, my experience as part of these groups has been transformational. Being in a room with 10 other people who seem to operate in the same way as I do… has been HUGE. It allowed me to reconcile my online research with IRL comparisons to others’ lived experiences; and ultimately, be braver about advocating for myself.
Most importantly, I have finally found my people. I can have those deep, meaningful conversations that fill my cup. I can drop my fear of judgment and connect authentically. Through these spaces, I feel like I’ve unlocked parts of myself and allowed myself the opportunity to truly thrive. I’m excited to continue this journey, with boundless curiosity, support and love."
"After graduating from college I felt like I lost my support system and had difficulty feeling like I was a part of the community in the spaces I occupy. As a self-diagnosed autistic person, being in these support groups, I feel like I have a chance to ease my way back into community without the pressure of having to conform."
"In my daily life I often feel other, like an alien. And because I actually am different from most people, I had accepted that feeling lonely was inevitable. After joining the autism support groups, I have begun to feel a sense of community and connection. I feel seen and understood in ways I was convinced wasn't possible for someone like me. It heals my soul and makes my heart happy <3."

If you sign up for a group you must have your video on, otherwise, members may be uncomfortable by not knowing who/what is happening behind your screen. You never will be pushed to share or speak if you do not want to. No material will be recorded though my laptop, and if it is found that anyone else has recorded material they will be removed from the group. I reserve the right to remove anyone from group if acting inappropriately, without refunding payment. You must be 18+ to participate in group because adult topics may be discussed. This is NOT therapy. I do not offer therapy or any therapy services. This is a support group aimed at connecting members of the autistic community. I will make great effort to foster a positive group experience for all. I am not a therapist and I am not licensed to practice any form of therapy—if you are looking for therapy this is the wrong type of group and I encourage you to seek therapy from a licensed professional. Do not share zoom links with anyone, attendance will be taken at every group and any person present who has not signed up and paid will be removed.
